Our charity patterns

These charity patterns are designed to be made using whatever you have in your yarn stash.

The hot water bottle cover requires 150g DK. We used West Yorkshire Spinners Bo Peep DK (50g each of the three colours). It also needs either 2 buttons and a 3.5mm hook for the crochet button, or 4 buttons and 3.75mm needles for the knitted version.

The mug cosy requires approx. 20g cream DK, 5g black or brown DK, a small amount of stuffing, a button, a pair of goggle eyes, and either 3.5mm needles or a 3.5/4mm hook.

Hello everyoneWhile we have only just closed exhibitor applications, we have been carefully monitoring the situation with regards to the pandemic, and have decided that we can’t proceed with Buxton Wool Gathering 2021. When we opened applications, we were optimistic that things would have improved before May. However, it is now clear that the UK will be far from back to “normal” by then and events may still be restricted. Even if they aren’t, we don’t believe it would be safe for exhibitors or visitors for us to hold the event. The virus is still circulating in high numbers and while these should have reduced by May, it seems extremely unlikely they’ll be anywhere close to zero, or that vaccinations will have been rolled out to enough to protect the majority of the population. We strongly believe that safety comes first, disappointing as it is to cancel two years in a row. And we would rather cancel now, before people begin to make arrangements for travel, rather than waiting until closer to the actual date. We have tried to negotiate for a date later in the year with the venue. Unfortunately, so many events were carried over from 2020, and so many other wool festivals are already scheduled, that this isn’t feasible. We also won’t be running a virtual event this year. Instead, we’ll be focussing all of our efforts on Bakewell Wool Gathering. We’re confident that the situation will have vastly improved by October, and we hope that Bakewell will be a celebratory comeback for us all. ... See MoreSee Less
