Buxton is on the A6, southeast of Stockport and Manchester, and in the northern part of Derbyshire.

The town has frequent train services to Manchester provided by Northern Trains. Times and tickets can be found on the National Rail website. The railway station is a five to ten minute walk to Pavilion Gardens, which is clearly signposted. Buxton train station is step-free.

For information on bus services, please see High Peak Buses, Traveline, and Derbyshire Buses. You may also find this bus map helpful.

Parking

The closest car park is Pavilion Gardens, which is about a minute's walk from the Octagon Room. It has 15 accessible spaces.

There are several others around Buxton. These are signposted around town if the first car park is full.

They're all run by High Peak Borough Council and you can use the Pay by Phone app at them if you have a smartphone. The Pay and Display machines take cash or card, and cost around £5.00 for a full day of parking.

Buxton isn't very big, so the other car parks won't take you long to walk to the venue from. However, it is hilly!

If you're arriving by coach, you can be dropped off on St John's Road. Coach spaces are at the Sylvan Road car park.

    Accommodation

If you’re thinking of coming to visit for the full weekend, or for a longer stay, there are plenty of B&Bs, guest houses and hotels in the local area. We recommend looking at the Visit Buxton website for more information.

We aren’t affiliated with any of the websites listed on this page and while we’ll do our best to answer your questions, official channels like the Peak District website will be able to provide impartial, detailed advice better than we can.

Alternatively, the tourist information centre offer an accommodation advice service on 01298 25106 or tourism@highpeak.gov.uk
